What were some of your favorite books, movies and television show as a child? How do you think these media texts have influenced the person you are today?

Some of my favorite movies as a child were Toy Story (which I still watch to this day) The Lion King, Pocahontas, Free Willy, Spice Girls and my all time Favorite Casper. I dont recall having any favorite books but I definitely enjoyed reading books from the Author im sure you all are familier with Robert Munch. I dont think I watched many television shows growing up but when I did I watched The Magic School Bus, Barney and the Teletubies. I dont think these media texts have influenced me much at all really. But if they have, it would have to be my imagination.

Is it important for cultures to protect themselves from outside media influence?

Is it imortant for cultures to protect themselves from outside media influence? Think of the consequences if cultures had no control, or care of outside media they were being influenced by. In my opinion "culture" is the definition of our own unique way of living which draws back to tradition and loyalty to our ancestors the people who influenced us to begin with. Being influenced by the media can easily change that. Think of how much the media can and does persuade us to believe and do other things. Not all media have negative influences on cultures but it also does have benefits with the way different cultures live today. Whether they've been influenced by the way they eat, travel, communicate, or just daily routine lives. The media provides useful, but again useless information and influences. So should cultures protect themselves from outside media? I think cultures should, but again be influenced by a certain amount.

My encounter with popular culture in the last two days was ofcourse my daily crave and passion for music, which my ipod holds and I take with me almost everwhere. Another encounter was an old movie I saw yesterday called "The Jerk" starring Steve Martin amazing actor I might add, totally recomend the movie.
My amazing best friend (G) and myself played an Xbox Kinect sports game which paid for in the end because we both are extremely sore! My last encounter was an episode of one of my favorite TV shows im sure you all are familiar with Friends :) .
